The New Samsung NX Mini SMART Camera

Hey guys!

If you followed me on Instagram and Facebook, you should have a rough idea what was I up to last Saturday (: Samsung Malaysia Electronics has recently launched a new addition to their SMART camera family with the world's slimmest and lightest interchangeable-lens camera to date, Samsung NX Mini! And I was one of the lucky few bloggers who had the chance to have a hands-on experience with the new camera during the launch.

We gathered at NU Sentral earlier that morning for a short briefing before being divided into groups for a mission later that day. What mission, you ask? Well, you got to continue reading to find out :D Every blogger was given a camera and t-shirt each and off we go to Central market by LRT for a photo marathon. The theme of  the day was Colours of Malaysia and we were grouped according to the three sub-themes which was Historical Buildings, Sight and Sound and Gastronomical Delights of Malaysia respectively.

The moment everyone had their hands on their cameras, you could practically see everyone flipping over the screen and selfie-ing with one another. Yet of course, we will defeating its purpose if we didn't use it for selfie cause the 3” Flip Up and Touch Display screen is specially designed for you to take the perfect selfie or welfie! Did I mention that it can rotate 180 degrees too? Now everyone can master the art of selfie anywhere anytime (; It even comes with a Wink shot and Smile shot that doesn't require you to press the shutter release button to capture an image. How cool is that? All you have to do is either to wink or smile at the camera, according to the feature that you've chosen (no, it can be two simultaneously HAHA) and once your wink or smile is detected, voila, a shot is taken right away!

That's Yuhjiun beside me, of course we didn't miss a chance to selfie too :3
Don't let the mini size deceive you, I can assure that you'll be amazed by what it has to offer! The body itself weighs in at a featherweight of 158g and is only 22.5mm thin, making it super convenient to bring around or even to slip into your pocket. Alright, I think I shall not further bore you with all the specifications in detail yadah yadah yadah, I'll just let you be the judge and see the photos for yourselves (:

Remember the mission that I mentioned earlier? Yes, so we were assigned to go for a photo marathon where we need to take photos according to our sub-themes and at the end of the day, there will be one camera to be given away for the BEST #myNXminimarathon photo of the day on Instagram.

But first, let us take a selfie B) with Beauty Face mode on.
You can choose to shoot in either Auto or Manual mode but for those who are less adventurous you can always choose from the SMART mode collection that features Landscape, Macro, Rich Tone, Panorama Food and many more. It even has Light Trace mode, one of the modes that I can't wait to try out at night.
Flowers, can't get enough of them!

You can pretty much guess which sub-theme I was in based of the photos I took, Gastronomical Delights of Malaysia it is. How do you like my photos? I love how vibrant the colours turn out and the crisp clear images. Equipped with large 1-inch type 20.5MP BSI CMOS Sensor, NX Mini camera does capture high quality photos. Pretty impressive, I must say! FYI, I didn't edit or filter any of the photos I've taken besides resizing them.

Due to time constraint, I didn't get to explore much and take more shots cause then it was time to head to KLCC for lunch.
It's Yuhjiun again, my group partner of the day HEH
We had Johnny Rockets at Avenue K for lunch, it's actually my first time in Avenue K.

One of the reasons why I love dining in JR, cause of the bubbly staff and you get entertained with their dance while you're having your meal. My face totally showed how ecstatic I got HAHA

My scrumptious lunch; Bacon and Cheddar Single. Cheese and Bacon mmmhmm, my fave combo!
It was delectable though the portion was a tad too big for me.

Their signature smiley ketchup, so adorable! :DDD

And the best photo goes to Kifli, who won himself a new Samsung NX Mini in mint colour! Congrats :D
How did we get to upload our photos via Instagram? Of course, like the rest of Samsung's 2014 camera models, the NX Mini features both Wi-Fi and NFC technology that allows us easy pairing with our smartphones (even those running on IOS) so that we can share photos on our Twitter, Facebook or Instagram almost instantly. This is definitely the one feature that all social media addicts will love! We were also introduced to this super cool "Tag & Go" NFC system, where we can simply tap our device to the camera to pair them. Once paired, you can shoot and share photos to a variety of social networks and or even use Samsung's Remote View Finder Pro app to remotely control your camera via your smartphone. Now you don't even need to purchase an external remote for your camera. Who says good things doesn't come in small package?

I promise this will be the last selfie, with Koey and Yuhjiun HEHE

Samsung NX Mini comes in five colors including white, black, classic brown, mint green and pink.
It retails at RM1399 with 9mm f3.5 lens and RM1699 with kit lens.

Last but not least, gonna end this post with a panorama shot I took of the city.

Thanks again to Samsung Malaysia Electronics and Manoah for a fun-filled day in KL! Couldn't be more happier to be a part of this exciting event ♥

Remember to follow me closely on my Facebook and Instagram to join me on my journey in exploring more of this awesome Samsung NX Mini! Feel free to check out more photos posted by other bloggers on FB and Instagram too, just type in #myNXmini :DDD

P/S: I will probably review this camera more on a separate post if I have the time too, finals is just around the corner, so bear with me (:

Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge Grand Launch

Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge (MGAC) is back again this year with its third season that promises you the ultimate adrenaline rush, bigger, bolder and better across 14 countries!

In case you don't know, MGAC is an exciting international business case competition that offers the brightest young minds from Malaysian, ASEAN and across the globe the opportunity to exhibit their potential. If you're thinking that this competition is all about presentation and discussion of business strategy, then you're wrong. MGAC is specially designed and organized by Maybank where participants will be put to test in various discipline and multi-national initiative besides giving them a money-can't-buy-world-class experience that only comes once in a lifetime. It's like The Apprentice, The Amazing Race, Fear Factor and Masterchef all in one! I kid you not, they are even required to cook a meal for the unfortunate. Being intelligent is not enough, you have got to be physically and mentally fit for this challenge as well.

I had the opportunity to attend the grand launch of MGAC at GSC, Pavilion last week and it's definitely an eye opener for me. I've never heard of this challenge before although it has been an on-going annual event since 2012. I felt that MGAC is indeed a great opportunity and platform for those who study in the business industry to pursue their dreams and work their way to success.

Wondering what awaits them at the end of the challenge? Participants worldwide will compete individually and in teams for the chance to make it to the international grand finals and win a total cash prizes of USD 72,000. Yes, I repeat USD 72,000! The ultimate GO Ahead. Challenger will be awarded with a cash prize of USD 1,000 and a two-week internship experience in New York. The best has yet to come...both the Champion Team and the Ultimate GO Ahead. Challenger will win exclusive participation in Maybank's Global Leadership Development Programme with the Bank's most influential top 50 leaders.

At the press conference, Puan Nora Abdul Manaf, the Group Chief Human Capital Officer, Maybank announced that MGAC have received closed to 7,500 applicants this year, with an increase of 50% as compared to last year. That is definitely a huge amount. It has also expand its horizon in attracting participants all the way from Algeria, Russia, Spain, Kazakhstan, Maldives and even Italy.

We were then brought into the hall for a video presentation and speech by Puan Nora.

This is just a snippet of the video that was showcased the other day; we get to watched what the participants from previous seasons underwent and some of the unforgettable experiences of the former Go Ahead challengers. It was way more intense and challenging! They even had a night where their laptops were attacked by virus that deleted all of their files and they had to redo the whole presentation from scratch. Their advice? There is no need to prepare yourself cause there will be no enough preparation one can have for this challenge. Just embrace whatever challenge that is thrown to you and be ready to be pushed to your limit. At the end of the day, sleep is not an option yet it will be worth it.

Puan Nora who spoke during the launch said she is looking forward to see more young talents as a challenger and a future Maybanker.
With that, the Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge is officially launched!
(From L-R) Maybank Islamic Berhad CEO, Muzaffar Hisham, Maybank Group Chief Technology Officer, Geoff Stecyk, Group Chief, Human Capital Officer, Nora Abdul Manaf, Maybank Group Chief Risk Officer, Dr John Lee and Maybank Head of Group Talent Sourcing & Development, Chen Fong Tuan.

Do you have what it takes to be a Go Ahead challenger? Go ahead and show them #whatareyoumadeof!
MGAC is open to all final-year students and recent graduates from 14 countries from across the world where Maybank has significant presence. So if you think you're up for a challenge, I would strongly recommend you to join and be a part of this year's Maybank GO Ahead. Challenge! Feel free to drop by http://goaheadchallenge.com/ for more details and be quick, application date period is still open until 14th May 2014.

Wishing all the participants best of luck! And most importantly, have fun :D

Malaysia Clothes Buffet 2014

Hey guys! How are you guys spending your Friday night?

It's been a while since I had such a productive Friday. It's been a long day and my contact lens have been sucking my eyes dry yet I'm still determined to finish this post before I head to bed.

I kickstarted my Friday with Malaysia Clothes Buffet at Taylor's Lakeside before my 11.30am class this morning, life of a shopaholic tsk tsk Despite the horrid jam, I still managed to reach half an hour earlier. A good day for me, I supposed. It's definitely a new and unique shopping experience for me! Continue scrolling down  for more photos and my two-cents for this event (:

The nicely decorated  photobooth where you can take photo with the props provided (:
It's huge that you can easily spot it when you're at the Syopz Mall.

First and foremost, you'll need to register yourself according to the time slot that you've chosen.
Basically, there are 3 slots in a hour. Eg: 10am, 10.20am and 10.40am.

Each participants will be given a plastic bag after registration.
The deal is to stuff as many clothes as you can into the plastic bag in 15 minutes and they will be all yours with a condition where the bag must be able to sealed properly without any tear.

Unlike the previous installments, this year's clothes buffet are placed in an open area space which has more space to walk around and of course it's less stuffy. However, the clothes are not hang up this time round and you'll get people staring at you while you're unleashing the shopaholic in you HAHAH but who cares. There is a huge timer located at the end of the buffet yet no one really bother looking at it while digging for gold. The staff was kind enough to remind us on how much time we have left now and then (: It can be pretty exciting yet it gives me a bundle of nerves at the same time. So there are tons of items to choose from this year ranging from shorts, tank tops, blouses, skirts, cardigans and even jeans! They have various sizes available as well.

Kiasu mode on! You either fight or lose :P  HAHAHA just kidding.
Luckily, the shoppers I met were pretty easy-going and not aggresive at all  *phew*

And these are my total catch, ladies and gentlemen. I was obviously trying to be safe with 7 pieces cause I've seen quite a number of shoppers who had their bags torn halfway the buffet.
P/S: A penalty of RM20 will be charged for a torn bag.
To be honest, I was slightly disappointed with the quality and variety of  clothes they offered at the buffet or  maybe it's just my luck cause I wasn't fast enough. Oh well, I am still thrilled to bits with my hauls and I sure had lots of fun in the buffet (:

Useful tips for all shoppers:

  • Put on comfortable clothes and shoes, so that you can walk around freely without having them getting in your way while you're busy shopping.
  • Be nice to other shoppers. This is not a freaking warzone, we all come here with one mission that is to shop in peace (:
  • Don't bother bringing any big bag with you cause bags are not allowed into the clothes buffet.
  • Bring along your boyfriend so that he can either help you to carry your handbag while you shop or you can buy an extra ticket for him to shop along with for you. More clothes for you YAY :P
  • Bring along your girlfriends cause the more the merrier!
  • Grab anything that catch your eyes and don't bother thinking twice, the clothes might not be there anymore if you go back for it again.
  • Keep calm and shop cause the plastic bag can be quite fragile.

~*~

On the other hand, there is also Aussino Clearance Sale and Fashion Bazaar going on as well! Be sure to check them out while you're at the Clothes Buffet.
Aussino bedsheets selling from RM24.90 and pillowcase selling from RM9.90! Such a steal, isn't it?

Since I was rushing to head back to uni for class, I didn't manage to drop by the bazaar to have a look. Feel free to visit Arisa's blog and Jess' blog for more inside scoop of the fashion bazaar :D It's really difficult to resist splurging when everything is on sale!

Well well well, I guess you must be excited to see what did I grab from the clothes buffet!
I managed to get one tank top, two tops, two shorts and two dresses. Not too bad, eh? ヽ(*≧ω≦)ノ

My favourite would be the yellow top and blue tiger printed skirt set (: Pretty bummed out that I couldn't find the yellow sundress that I've been eyeing from their FB page
Last but not least, the Aussino quilt cover that I got for myself.
So that's pretty much it :D If you haven't purchase your tickets online, fret not! You can just walk in anytime and purchase your tickets this weekend from 10am to 6pm. And oh, don't forget to take lots of photos and hashtag #malaysiaclothesbuffet on Instagram for the post clothes buffet lucky draw. Remember to follow their FB page for more updates too!

Till then, have a great weekend ahead and happy shopping! ( ´ ▽ ` )ノ
