Fashion Post: Yellow Asymmetrical Skort

It's been  almost two months since I've embarked into the working world and I've got to admit that I seriously miss my carefree uni life already T__T Work has been pretty hectic and I'm still struggling to keep my head above water. With work and whatnot taking up most of my time, I haven't really found the time to dress up and try new clothes out for a while now. Sundays are probably the only days where I can utilize to gussy up and all though some days I will choose sleeping in over anything since it's the only day I can sleep in.

Some of you may recall that I've blogged about Curated Clothing before and I am thrilled to receive one of their fabulous pieces; the Yellow Asymmetrical Skort. We gotta admit that skorts definitely had a moment in the fashion scene this year after the great Zara Skort Armageddon of 2013 and has now growing into a phenomenon of varying cuts, textures, and lengths.

Kimono Cardigan - Taobao

White Camisole - Forever21
Yellow Asymmetrical Skort - Curated Clothing
Rings - H&M

I've always had a very safe selection of colors in my wardrobe, not very versatile and I would seldom venture out to try a color that I'm not confident in pulling off. I can actually count the number of bold coloured garments I have with my ten fingers. I am quite into soft pastel yellow this year but not bright neon-like yellow. I guess there's no harm trying right? When it comes to coordinating my outfits, I love keeping things simple. Minimalist is the word. Drawing from my long admiration and obsession with florals (guess it's pretty obvious HEH), I put together this Kimono Cardigan with the skort, and lo and behold, the entire coordinate seems to fit quite nicely and is totally perfect for a casual-yet-chic day out. Personally I think it's fine to sometimes wander out of our comfort zones and experiment with different bright and bold colors instead of just sticking with the ones in our wardrobes.
Excuse my flip flops :P

So, what do you think of my entire outfit?
Be sure to check out http://curatedclothing.shoppy.my/ (though the site is currently under construction) for more trendy and quirky garments or you can always look up for updates on their Facebook page HERE, and oh don't forget to give them a LIKE too! :D It's December anyway, you sure deserve to pamper yourself with new clothes for Christmas and New Year!

Till then, have a nice weekend ahead guys!

P/S: I wish I could update my blog more often so hopefully I will be able to once I've adapated to a better work-life balance. More posts coming up soon, I know I say this too often but trust me, this time it's for real (;

Fashion Post: Sheer Maxi Skirt with Side Slit

I'm probably a bit too late for this sheer maxi skirt trend, it was emerging last summer but they are back again this summer/spring. The moment I saw it, I told myself I must have this piece in my wardrobe! Sheer maxi skirts, with its long flowing outer layer and an inner solid mini, are the new must-have item. Since it's always summer in Malaysia, I guess I can wear this skirt whole year round. I've yet to see people wearing this sheer maxi skirt around before this until recently. These skirts are the perfect combo of sexy, chic, comfortable and feminine. Of course they come in different versions, patterns and colours, but I choose the basic black sheer maxi skirt with a side slit for my starter piece cause I'm pretty much a safe person when it comes to fashion, so it's easy for me to pair it with any tops. All in all, I prefer minimalism (:

Sheer maxi skirt can be worn in many ways to suit your body type. It's a great piece for me as it helps to hide my large hips and not so skinny thighs. Forget about the rule where only tall girls can wear a maxi dress or skirt cause it’s also a great way to give me a longer figure. Another thing that I like about sheer skirts is that it brings in that sexy but still classy look that every girl should rock, especially those with side splits too.

Here are some of the outfits combination that features black sheer maxi skirt I found in Google;

All of these looks, my favourite combination would definitely be the one in the middle with the knit top.
And I love how the first girl is able to rock the leather biker jacket.  I don't think I can pull off that look.
More awesome looks on LOOKBOOK.nu!

Do you realise most of them actually had an all-black combination outfit? My inital plan was to pair this skirt with a bustier top but I've yet to find a bustier top that I like T__T So I decided to go for a mono combo instead. This is my version; more of a girly rather than an edgy look.
From top to bottom:
White Floral Crown
Kitty Cat Sunnies
American Apparel inspired Polka Dots Cropped Top
Sheer Maxi Skirt With Side Slit
Vintage Satchel Sling Bag
T-strap metallic sandals

So, how do you like my outfit? ♥
One thing for sure, the sheer effect wasn't that obvious in photos.
And if you realise, I'm not much of an accessories person too :P
All photos are courtesy of Joe Ann

For an easy and casual day look, pair it with a cropped band tee, any jersey top, tie front top or even oversized top. Sheer maxi skirts will look effortlessly chic when matched with a cosy knit top or pullover for chillier weather during spring time. To have an edgier look, needless to say, just add a sleeveless denim vest or leather biker jacket. And as for night, try a neutral, all sheer look, with a black bra/tank underneath and chunky silver accessories. Or you can even wear a strapless bustier top or bralette for a more flirty look (;  Shoes for the day can be as simple as a ballet flat or sandals, but lace-up military boots look great as well as a Chelsea boots. To be honest, I can't see myself wearing boots at all especially in Malaysia's weather. For night, I think it would be perfect to go with a pair of chunky lace-up heels.

For either day or night, you can always consider the mix of solids/prints/colours & textures but dear, remember to not go overboard on volume and accessories.

So ladies, I would love to hear your thoughts about this maxi sheer skirt :D Is it a yay or a nay? Do share with me in the comment section below.

GTower View Rooftop Bar

After the Ramadhan Preview, we were given the opportunity to drop by GTower View RoofTop bar for some quick drink and chill out sesh. It's actually my first time there ヽ(*⌒∇⌒*)ノ

Listed as one of the best rooptop bars in Kuala Lumpur, I must say this place is quite impressive. It's sophisticated in its own way and I'm sure it looks elegantly chic during the daytime cause of the white sleek interior and exterior design. Located on the 30th floor of GTower, you will definitely be able to enjoy the spectacular view of Kuala Lumpur. Perfect for romantic interludes, glamorous cocktail parties and memorable events. However, they only serve beverages and snacks. Perhaps you can have your meal at Tanzini or The Lounge of GTower before heading to the rooftop bar to chill (:

Of their specialty is that their customers are encouraged to customize their own cocktails. How cool is that? First choose your choice of spirits; vodka, gin, tequila, rum, etc then inform the resident mixologist how you'd like the texture to be. Either soft, silky, smooth, creamy or crunchy. For a creative twist, you get to select your selection of herbs, spices & fresh tropical or even exotic fruits to be added in your mix. Lastly name your concoction and enjoy!

Carlsberg Export was the first leading premium lager to be available in Extra Cold and has been perfected to keep you cool on a hot summer day. The stylish Carlsberg Export is a premium strength lager (5% ABV) with a refined and satisfying taste. Brewed to the original Danish recipe, it has deep malty notes and a distinct bitterness that which generate a full flavoured beer.

B-Station, Ampang Waterfront

I've heard of this place called B-station ever since one of my uni mates visited the place last year. The thing is, it's slightly far to reach from my place. Well it's reachable by public transport but it would be quite a hassle with all the transition of different train platforms and mode of transport. So after our finals, we decided to try out the place. Thanks to Joeann who drives us there, despite being lost, even with the help of GPS, Google Map and Waze. Epic fail, I tell you HAHAHA

When I first heard of B-station, korean food is the last thing on my mind. Surprisingly, B-station actually serves korean food and they are known for hotdogs and coffee. Korean food and hotdogs? Heh, again a rather peculiar combination.
It's quite hard not to notice this cafe, since it's painted red and the only shop along that row with such an exterior.  Just keep an eye after you've passed by Old Town White Coffee.

Since we are still half an hour earlier before they are opened, we had to wait outside.
Even the exterior is nicely decorated with painting on the wall (:

They have a lot of greens around, like a garden. Thus, a cute spade and garden fork to complete the whole garden theme (:
But the waitresses are nice enough to allow us in early and take our order.. I was astonished with the extensive menu (that I had to keep flipping :P), as they serve an array of korean food ranging from ricecakes to ramen as well as and pastries too.

While waiting for the food, I just had to take photos of the interior! They really put an effort in decorating this place and if you're a girl, you'll definitely love it!

The beverages counter.

A bald plant for you to hang your polaroid photos LOL

After taking all the photos, I just came to realise this yellow poster on the wall.
But I've spent more than 5 minutes? How now? But the waitress never stopped me in the first place HAHA Oh well :P

Love this white lantern
Why do you even take a photo of their chairs? Cause it has floral printed cushions! :D

Since the cafe was empty, we chose to sit inside this small  cosy corner. So pretty right? With all the lace and English country theme vibe.
Ice Lemon Tea (RM4.50) and Iced Americano (RM5.50)

Korean Green Tea (RM4.50/pot)

Here comes our brunch!

Teriyaki Chicken Hotdog @ RM8.80
There are 7 different types of hotdogs but we have no idea which to choose so we asked the waitress to recommend us and according to her, teriyaki chicken is one of the bestseller.

Overall, the hotdog is really good. The bread is fluffy and they are super generous with the amount of teriyaki chicken on top of the sausage. Fyi, their sausage is homemade and you can really authenticity of the sausage along with the crunchy cucumbers and tomatoes. I would definitely come back for their hotdogs again!

Kimchi soup @ RM12.50
The kimchi soup comes with a bowl of rice. I have to say that the kimchi soup was a let down. It was not spicy or anything close to the kimchijiggae that I normally have. Probably because it's a seafood kimchi soup so it tasted different. They have few other types of soup too besides the famous korean ginseng chicken soup and this kimchi soup.

Traditional Dukbokki @ RM9.80
Served with cabbage and the typical dukbokki gravy. Joeann and Jieyi love it(!) but somehow the texture was too chewy to my liking. It's worth a try and it's quite filling to have this dish alone so it's best to order one to share it among your friends (:

The side dishes; since we are not having bbq so I was not surprised that we weren't serve with more side dishes. Love the one with glass noodles and potatoes (:
Good thing about B-station is that it's halal! Cause there aren't many halal korean restaurants in KL, to begin with. And I have Malay friends who loves korean  food too, so it's a definitely a plus point.
Overall, I think t's a really nice place for a catch up session or lunch/dinner with friends. The cafe really gives you a homey feeling and who doesn't love such pretty interior! Foodwise is still acceptable but I reckon that you shouldn't have high expectation. It's affordable as well. I also heard that the owner is friendly but I didn't have the chance to meet the couple. Maybe next time (:

Last but not least, a shot of my #OOTD.
