Mitasu Japanese Restaurant

Located in the heart of the city center, along Jalan Sultan Ismail is this Japanese Restaurant that serves all-you-can-eat ala carte buffet without burning a hole in your wallet. Priced at only RM59.90++, I personally think that it is really reasonable for their wide array of food ranging from sashimi to cold cuts and nabemono, not forgetting desserts too! To see the full menu, feel free to check out their Facebook page. It took us a while to decide what to order but we both agreed to not waste our stomach capacity on sushi and rice // eating buffet also needs strategy okay. Charges will be imposed for food wastage so be sure to not over order too.

Kicking start our meal with Chuka Idako; seasoned baby octopus.

Smooth silky Chawanmushi is my staple when it comes to Jap food.

Takoyaki topped with bonito flakes. They did it with just the right amount of batter with generous filling.

Kev's favourite Saba Shioyaki which he claimed was just so-so.

The highlight of the meal would be their gorgeously sliced (and fat) sashimi!
We tried Tuna, Salmon and Butterfish sashimi, equally fresh and succulent.

Chicken Gyoza.

And not to forget these ebi tempura in delicate and lacy gold batter that was fried to perfection; not too greasy. We had to have two servings of these!

More salmon sashimi please!

Juicy bite-sized beef cooked in Butteryaki style; one of our favourite dishes too.

Lamb Butteryaki.

Fresh shrimps served on ice; definitely worth the order.

Decided to try their udon too and it was pretty tasty, love the soup especially.

Agedashi tofu which was nothing extraordinary.

Despite being stuffed to the brim, there is definitely still room for dessert. I chose the matcha (like duh) ice-cream while Kev tried out the black sesame ice-cream. Their ice-creams are quite decent, I must say!

A well fed kid is always happy! :D trying to hide my bulging tummy at the same time HEH

It can be quite packed over the weekends, so do call in for reservation beforehand to avoid disappointment. Overall, it was quite a satisfying meal at Mitasu but I must admit that we kind of overestimated ourselves and went overboard. We had to stay away from Japanese food for a while. But surely we will come back for another visit if we are up for a buffet challenge, maybe with a better strategy (haha!) larger group people so we can try out more dishes.

G Tower Ramadhan Buffet Preview 2014

Hey guys!

I'm currently back in my hometown which explain my sudden hiatus again. Life is back to being mundane where my routine only involves eat, sleep, laze repeat. And yes, the fasting season is here again :D I guess I need to head to the Ramadhan bazaar one of these days. Speaking of which, I was invited again to the G Tower Ramadhan Buffet Media Preview back in May this year. Can't believe it's been a year!

This year round, G Tower will be spoiling you with an extensive range of scrumptious daily iftar with selection of up to 100 Malaysian style dishes and Moroccan fusion to choose from. Celebrity Chef, Chef Johnny Fua and his team will be preparing halal local delicacies for this Ramadhan period that will promise you and your tummy a delightful and satisfying meal.

Assorted Kerabu and fresh vegetables for ulam.

Quinoa Salad.

Rojak Pasembur.

The first thing that I was finding for was this Bubur Lambuk and I was so glad that they still have it this year. I first tried it last year and I just had to have it again, it still tasted the same!

Specially prepared for the pastry lovers!
Few of the breads available are soft roll breads, Pita Bread, Panini Bread and Garlic Naan Bread.

Move on to carbo-loading feast with the main dishes at the Hot From The Claypot buffet line.

Chicken Cous Cous.

Gulai Kembong with Timun Kuning.

Harissa Lamb Spice.

Stir Fried Mushroom.

Chili Prawn.

The highlight of the buffet spread will be the all time Ramadhan must have delicacies, The Roasted Lamb, Baked Big Giant Grouper and Baked Red Snapper with Tamarind Sauce.

The fish was really fresh and baked to perfection. The flesh was still moist and juicy YUMS
Baked Giant Grouper.

Baked Red Snapper.

The succulent roasted lamb with arabic rice.
Somehow, the roasted lamb this year was a slight disappointment, the lamb was not tender enough and I had quite a hard time chewing it. Maybe it was just that night, but taste wise, it was still good (:

They have live cooking station as well serving Curry Mee and Bandung Mee.
Since I was not in the mood for spicy food, I opted for Bandung Mee instead since I never tried it.
Just so you know, Bandung Mee is originally from Muar, Johor not Bandung, Indonesia :P
The broth was quite thick and is made of a mixture of chilli, onion, spices, and dried shrimp. It had more of a sweet taste rather than spicy taste. Definitely something new to me and it's best eaten when served hot.

And how can we miss out the all time favourite Satay with peanut sauce!

A meal is never complete without dessert, so make sure you save some space for dessert! Their dessert did not disappoint me at all as they have quite an impressive selection of desserts this year with featuring both local and western dessert served on the dessert counter.

Freshly sliced local fruits and bread pudding.

Traditional biscuits and colourful macaroons.

Clockwise: Cheese Tarts, Mini Pavlova, Baklava and Lemon Curd.

Traditional kuih, chilled sago and more sweet treats.
I enjoyed the dessert equally as the main dishes, tantalizing indeed!

Last but not least, don't forget to sip a cup of Teh Tarik or coffee while you sit back and relax after the fulfilling meal.

The buffet spread is better compared to last year's as they have more variety this year and the quality of the food is still on par. How I wish I have bigger tummy to try them all out! So do drop by G Tower for an amazing Ramadhan gastronomic journey with them! The Ramadhan Buffet is available at Mezzanine Floor of G Tower daily from 6pm to 10pm. Price starts from RM90++ per person and RM45++ for children. Special group discount is available if you're planning for a Ramadhan gathering with your family and friends :D Make your reservation today via email fnb.admin@gtower.my or call them at 03 2168 1919 ext 7040

GTower Ramadhan Buffet Preview Night

Since Hari Raya will fall on August 8th, it means that the holy month of Ramadhan will be here in a month time! When it comes to Ramadhan, all that we can think of, for the non-Muslims is definitely the food at Ramadhan bazaar. Stalls after stalls selling all kinds of mouthwatering local delicacies, right?

Well, speaking of Ramadhan, I was previlliged to be invited to the Preview of Ramadhan Buffet at GTower last month, right after my exam. It's really good to be able to relax myself with plenty good food and great companion after a hectic week of preparation for my exam.

Let's not babble more and move on to check out the scrumptious buffet spread!

- Cold appetizers and Salad -
#1. Preserved fruits // Jeruk buah-buahan

#2. Malay Traditional Salad // Malay Ulam-Ulaman
As you can see, there are different types of dressings to choose from.

#3.  Assorted Kerabu and Fried Salted FishThey have Kerabu Ayam, Kerabu Jantung Pisang and Kerabu Pucuk Paku.
#4. Penang Pasembor
Something similar like the rojak that you eat by the road side, with peanut gravy and black rojak paste too.

Hot steaming lemang!
Two choices to choose from: glutinous rice and black glutinous rice.
I always crave for these during Ramadhan, so delighted to see these being served.
Best eaten with peanut gravy or chicken curry gravy YUMS

Somehow I find it a bit weird that they are serving assorted breads and pastries for a Ramadhan buffet.
But they have quite an array of fluffy bread and pastries, didn't get to try any of them.

- Hot Dishes -
Have you seen such colourful rice? It's called Nasi Hujan Panas.
They tasted like actual rice, just that they are colourful.

I can't help myself but to have a few servings of these! If you're a fan of seafood, you'll love this. The scallops and prawas are really fresh and juicy too.

Of course you couldn't miss satay when it comes to local delicacies!
They have chicken, beef and mutton satays. All of them are equally tender and well marinated.

This, my friend would be the highlight of the entire buffet spread!
The Roast Lamb Shoulder with Arabic Rice.
Each slice of the lamb is nicely roasted and delectable.
The meat was really tender and juicy.
Even Joeann, who is not a fan of lamb loves it. So I bet everyone would love this dish too.
This delicious baked red snapper is one of the dishes that I enjoyed that night too.
The flesh of the fish is still moist despite being baked and it's not overcooked.
Tantalizing on every bite.

With all the mains, how can we not have desserts to end the meal right? So for desserts, they serve assorted malay kuihs, Assorted French Pastries, Mixed Fruits Platter, Cendol, Fruits Cocktail, Mango Pudding, Banana & Orange Triffle and Pengat Labu with Sagu as well to satisfy that sweet tooth of yours.

You can customize your own ais kacang and cendol too :D
I was too full when I remembered that I haven't try out this, so I gave it a pass.

Bandung Syrup and Sugar Cane drink (:
They also serve hot coffee and tea.

The super savory sup ekor and I had two bowls of it.
I love the rich taste and aromatic smell of the soup, another plus point is that the beef was tender.
Bubur Lambuk and a slice of tuna filled bread.
Well, this porridge might not look appealing but I was proved wrong after I had the first spoon of it.
It was fragrant and flavoursome, liked this too!

My plate of goodness :9

The gravy of the Mee Jawa wasn't thick enough to my liking.
Not the best Mee Jawa I've ever had but it was still acceptable (:
Not a really big fan of the local kuih but I still tried some.

Of course, I had to taste this macarons! Not disappointing as I have tasted macarons that was far worse than these. They are actually chocolate and strawberry macarons, not too sweet and it's pretty soft.
And no, I did not have all of these to myself :P

Since this is my first Ramadhan Buffet preview, I would say that it's quite an impressive buka puasa buffet spread with an extensive menu. It's perfect for diners who are looking for a variety of home-cooked comfort food and local delicacies to break fast. Tastewise and food quality wise, I think it's pretty fair and decent. Worth a try! Hope you'll enjoy the buffet and have a great experience dining at the Rajang GTower, at least I did. Besides, GTower itself is pretty convenient to reach by just taking the  LRT, it's located near the Ampang Park LRT Station so you can skip the bad traffic in KL and break fast just in time. Even if you decide to drive, the parking fee is reasonable too.
