Restoran Bubur Goreng @ Berkeley Garden Klang

Have anyone heard of the famous Bubur Goreng (read: fried porridge)? As ludicrous as it sounds, you may think to yourself how on earth can porridge be fried? I was in Berkeley once last year on one fine night, hunting for durians until I saw this restaurant and told my sister about it. In chinese, it is written 朝洲炒粥 which means Teo Chew Fried Porridge. I'm a Teo Chew myself and I've never heard of fried porridge before, absolutely have no idea it's something related to Teo Chew. So when the parents and Megan came over last December, the sister and her bf decided to bring all of us to try out.

We were there around 9-ish yet the place was still packed with patrons of all age having dinner, late dinner I supposed. The lady boss came and took orders, recommended few of their signature dishes and adjusted the portions accordingly to us. Most of their dishes comes only in one size, so it's advisable to come in a larger group so that you can order more and try out more of their dishes.
Fried meatballs @ RM10.
These bite sized treats are simply irresistible, crispy on the outside, tender in the inside.
So this is the fried porridge that I've been mentioning; looks like ordinary porridge mixed with soya sauce, no? Comes only in one size @ RM12. Even the six of us can't finish this one big bowl of it.
This fried porridge is cooked with rich dark sauce, dried shrimps, minced pork, diced yam and tofu and topped with sinful crispy pork lards. Indeed a pot of flavourful goodness, yet I only manage to have a bowl of it.

The highlight of the night would be..... *drum rolls*
Fried mee hoon with four huge crabs!!!! This dish here, my friend  that steals the limelight of the fried porridge is to die for. This dish is a common sight on almost every table. At first, we were thinking that it would troublesome with the meehoon all entangled with the crabs and all but I tell you it's all worth it.
The crabs were fresh, juicy and meaty, one of the best I've eaten before. FINGER LICKING GOOD, I. KID. YOU. NOT.
It was so good that all of us walloped this dish till the plate is squeaky clean. The meehoon isn't oily and the taste of it was perfect to my liking. I would definitely come back for this some day!
No crackers available but they gave us these cute tiny hammers upon request.
Their signature green chili sambal is the BOMB!!
The bill came up to RM100++ for 5 adults and one kid inclusive of drinks, with the crab mee hoon as the most expensive dish of the meal but I guess it's worth every single cent you pay. A satisfying and definitely fulfilling meal, I bet everyone's tummy was happy after the meal especially mine, been wanting to eat crabs for quite some time.

Besides that, some of their other signature dishes would be Fried meehoon with Mantis Prawns, Sreamed Egg with Mantis Prawns, Steamed (Siong Tong) Lala and Hokkien Mee.
Besides the oh-so-famous Klang Bak Kut Teh, Klang serves the best fried porridge and fried meehoon with crabs as well!
