Fashion Post: Yellow Asymmetrical Skort

It's been  almost two months since I've embarked into the working world and I've got to admit that I seriously miss my carefree uni life already T__T Work has been pretty hectic and I'm still struggling to keep my head above water. With work and whatnot taking up most of my time, I haven't really found the time to dress up and try new clothes out for a while now. Sundays are probably the only days where I can utilize to gussy up and all though some days I will choose sleeping in over anything since it's the only day I can sleep in.

Some of you may recall that I've blogged about Curated Clothing before and I am thrilled to receive one of their fabulous pieces; the Yellow Asymmetrical Skort. We gotta admit that skorts definitely had a moment in the fashion scene this year after the great Zara Skort Armageddon of 2013 and has now growing into a phenomenon of varying cuts, textures, and lengths.

Kimono Cardigan - Taobao

White Camisole - Forever21
Yellow Asymmetrical Skort - Curated Clothing
Rings - H&M

I've always had a very safe selection of colors in my wardrobe, not very versatile and I would seldom venture out to try a color that I'm not confident in pulling off. I can actually count the number of bold coloured garments I have with my ten fingers. I am quite into soft pastel yellow this year but not bright neon-like yellow. I guess there's no harm trying right? When it comes to coordinating my outfits, I love keeping things simple. Minimalist is the word. Drawing from my long admiration and obsession with florals (guess it's pretty obvious HEH), I put together this Kimono Cardigan with the skort, and lo and behold, the entire coordinate seems to fit quite nicely and is totally perfect for a casual-yet-chic day out. Personally I think it's fine to sometimes wander out of our comfort zones and experiment with different bright and bold colors instead of just sticking with the ones in our wardrobes.
Excuse my flip flops :P

So, what do you think of my entire outfit?
Be sure to check out http://curatedclothing.shoppy.my/ (though the site is currently under construction) for more trendy and quirky garments or you can always look up for updates on their Facebook page HERE, and oh don't forget to give them a LIKE too! :D It's December anyway, you sure deserve to pamper yourself with new clothes for Christmas and New Year!

Till then, have a nice weekend ahead guys!

P/S: I wish I could update my blog more often so hopefully I will be able to once I've adapated to a better work-life balance. More posts coming up soon, I know I say this too often but trust me, this time it's for real (;

Curated Clothing — Just For You!

" I have enough clothes and shoes. I don't need to go shopping " said no woman ever. Instead, all woman will always complain that they have nothing to wear and that includes me. Yet the thing about shopping for clothes in the mall is that the chances of you bumping into someone who have the same clothes as you are pretty high. So I guess online shopping is still a big hit among young female adults cause nowadays it's cheaper to shop online and you can shop for unique pieces that you can't get in Malaysia.

Introducing you Curated Clothing, a newly opened blogshop based in Malaysia where all fashion pieces are curated with the utmost care and taste.
It was started up by three friends who met on Tumblr across the globe and created by their love for Tumblr and fashion. Eventually they have decided to bring in and share stylish pieces that they specially handpicked from all over the world to you. Their range offers many inspired pieces from brands like Zara, NastyGal, Asos, Stylenanda and also from a number of underrated designers from Korea, UK and US.

As you can see below is their current summer collection, vibrant and mostly printed that comes with the latest trends. Definitely my type of fashion; I was already spoiled with choices and wanting more!

Just so you know, this is an pre-order site which means the pieces are unlimited for orders YAY no worries of  non-restockable sold out items. And as for now, they only ship locally in Malaysia. Besides that, every 10% of their monthly revenue will be contributed to charity! Isn't that great? So while you're shopping at Curated Clothing, you're doing good deeds at the same time (:

I am the most indecisive person ever so it's difficult for me to choose one favourite piece from the collection so I came up with three of  my top picks instead. The Floral Skort was more of a love at first sight to me, I knew I wanted it the moment I saw it. The Zara inspired plain skort has been a trend for a while, the floral prints definitely makes this piece more edgy and unique. Secondly, you can never go wrong with crop tops in summer, so I wanted this super adorable Pineapple Crop Top. Just so you know, pineapple print is an thing now! Last but not least, it would be the Lace Back Romper. I have never really have a full-white outfit, so I thought it would be interesting to try out a relatively different style (:

So for those of you who are trend conscious and on the hunt for budget-friendly apparels, Curated Clothing is definitely the ultimate choice (: Be sure to follow them on Facebook (HERE) and bookmark their site, http://curatedclothing.shoppy.my/ for the latest and trendiest updates! Updates would be available weekly, so do keep at eye.

Til then, happy shopping girls!

Clothes - The Basic Fashion Needs

Everyone has their own personal style in clothes to suit their character. Some prefer to look more casual while some loves to mix and match their outfit to create various unique looks. Driving out to malls on the weekends to shop for new clothes is always a fun activity for both men and women. Shopping for clothes is boring, says no one ever! We would trot down in and out of retails stores to get the best deals of clothing from various brands. As everyone knows, women have the tendency to shop with what attracts their attention. The ladies would purchase a new outfit without knowing when they would actually wear it and the clothes will start piling up in their closet. However, we always know when the perfect occasion comes around; we already have a perfect outfit stored in for us to wear. Whether we have a comfy knitwear for cold days or a jumpsuit on a casual day out.

Clothes are what represent our personality in front of others as a first impression. Therefore, it is understandable that each individual loves to create their own fashion style. Shopping for new clothes are always fun as you could add in your closet with fresher looking pieces. Men could style up their look with a casual tank top or look sophisticated wearing a nice business shirt. The women could look sweet with an A-line dress or simple with jeans and t-shirt. Clothes allow us to play around with any look that fits our taste to be worn to any occasion.

However, we do have to admit there are some concerns when mix matching our new outfits as we do not want to look ridiculous strutting all around town. It would be a nightmare to be caught by the fashion police. Well, the easiest way anyone can think of is to get inspirations from looks in magazines or just imitate the famous celebrities. My favourite would be Emma Stone, I love how her fashion style is always simple yet looking stylishly chic and fashionable as ever!

Just look at her, no doubt she could pull out any look and get away with it effortlessly. If you are looking to bring some stunning addition in your wardrobe, check out Zalora website as it offers an extensive list for both men and women from local and international brands. The best thing is you could do your shopping online within the comfort of your home. You no longer have to walk into crowded malls as you could buy clothes online and have it delivered right at your doorstep!

Hideaki's Lim Organic Cyber Horse Cheongsam Collection

In just a blink of an eye, CNY is coming to an end T__T How's the year of Horse treating you guys so far?

Last month, I was invited to the media preview of Hideaki's Lim Organic Cyber Horse Cheongsam Collection with my blogger friends and members of the media at Hotel Royal, Kuala Lumpur.

Hideaki Lim is a well-known cyber fashion designer in the fashion industry for the past 23 years. To him, cyber fashion is not merely conveyed by the futuristic design of his clothing line but also the technology used in the fabrics of his clothing line. The Year of Horse is a special year for Hideaki as he himself was born in the Year of Horse as well. So this lunar new year, he came up with a collection of cheongsam, featuring three different designs.

Four celebrity models who showcased Hideaki's collection that day was (L-R) Winnie K, a recording artist, Tiffany Hew, 1st runner-up of Miss Astro Chinese International Pageant 2007, Chelsea Chil, Miss Malaysia Queen of the World as well as Carol Lee, Mrs Universe 2013 and TV3 midnight newscaster.

His first set of collection takes into consideration of his keen support in saving the environment by using recyclable and affordable material that is not harmful to the skin. This set uses organic fabric specially imported from India, that uses colouring from fruits and vegetables.

One of the unique characteristic of this collection is that the outfits is reversible to a different colour to achieve a different look as you mix and match them.

Live hairdo demo by Peekaboo's hairstylist, Jefferey on stage to achieve another look.

And voila, you can have another look by just replacing the vest with a collar.
His second sets features 4 different cyber cheongsam made of lycra, bringing a subtle taste of the future to today.

So tell me, which design is your favourite? :D
Last but not least, in conjunction with the Year of Horse, Hideaki incorporates the horse element into his third collection where this collection is made with blue and silver silk, decorated with hand drawn horse and calligraphy.

Doing some final touch on the outfit on the stage.

A group shot of Hideaki Lim with the beautiful models and sponsors that makes the media preview a success, namely LS (Stem Cells Series), Sankon, EJS and Deli.
Hair and make-up of the day is by Pee-Ka-Boo.

In addition, Hotel Royal also takes this opportunity to have a round of lou-sang session with all the media representatives and sponsors to wish health, wealth and happiness in this year of Horse to everyone who are present that day.

Huattttttt ah! The higher you toss, the better!

And of course, we didn't miss the opportunity to toss the yee sang too! :DDDD

Wishing you all a prosperous year ahead!

Fashion Post: Sheer Maxi Skirt with Side Slit

I'm probably a bit too late for this sheer maxi skirt trend, it was emerging last summer but they are back again this summer/spring. The moment I saw it, I told myself I must have this piece in my wardrobe! Sheer maxi skirts, with its long flowing outer layer and an inner solid mini, are the new must-have item. Since it's always summer in Malaysia, I guess I can wear this skirt whole year round. I've yet to see people wearing this sheer maxi skirt around before this until recently. These skirts are the perfect combo of sexy, chic, comfortable and feminine. Of course they come in different versions, patterns and colours, but I choose the basic black sheer maxi skirt with a side slit for my starter piece cause I'm pretty much a safe person when it comes to fashion, so it's easy for me to pair it with any tops. All in all, I prefer minimalism (:

Sheer maxi skirt can be worn in many ways to suit your body type. It's a great piece for me as it helps to hide my large hips and not so skinny thighs. Forget about the rule where only tall girls can wear a maxi dress or skirt cause it’s also a great way to give me a longer figure. Another thing that I like about sheer skirts is that it brings in that sexy but still classy look that every girl should rock, especially those with side splits too.

Here are some of the outfits combination that features black sheer maxi skirt I found in Google;

All of these looks, my favourite combination would definitely be the one in the middle with the knit top.
And I love how the first girl is able to rock the leather biker jacket.  I don't think I can pull off that look.
More awesome looks on LOOKBOOK.nu!

Do you realise most of them actually had an all-black combination outfit? My inital plan was to pair this skirt with a bustier top but I've yet to find a bustier top that I like T__T So I decided to go for a mono combo instead. This is my version; more of a girly rather than an edgy look.
From top to bottom:
White Floral Crown
Kitty Cat Sunnies
American Apparel inspired Polka Dots Cropped Top
Sheer Maxi Skirt With Side Slit
Vintage Satchel Sling Bag
T-strap metallic sandals

So, how do you like my outfit? ♥
One thing for sure, the sheer effect wasn't that obvious in photos.
And if you realise, I'm not much of an accessories person too :P
All photos are courtesy of Joe Ann.

For an easy and casual day look, pair it with a cropped band tee, any jersey top, tie front top or even oversized top. Sheer maxi skirts will look effortlessly chic when matched with a cosy knit top or pullover for chillier weather during spring time. To have an edgier look, needless to say, just add a sleeveless denim vest or leather biker jacket. And as for night, try a neutral, all sheer look, with a black bra/tank underneath and chunky silver accessories. Or you can even wear a strapless bustier top or bralette for a more flirty look (;  Shoes for the day can be as simple as a ballet flat or sandals, but lace-up military boots look great as well as a Chelsea boots. To be honest, I can't see myself wearing boots at all especially in Malaysia's weather. For night, I think it would be perfect to go with a pair of chunky lace-up heels.

For either day or night, you can always consider the mix of solids/prints/colours & textures but dear, remember to not go overboard on volume and accessories.

So ladies, I would love to hear your thoughts about this maxi sheer skirt :D Is it a yay or a nay? Do share with me in the comment section below.

Suria KLCC S/S 2013 Fashion Week Begins!

It's that time of the year where you get to see loads of fashion shows at the mall cause it's fashion week, baby! This Suria KLCC's 2013 S/s 2013 Fashion Week aims to inspire their shoppers and bring out the fabulous fashionista in them to be chic and trendy this season, said Fartini Zaharuddin, PR & Communications Manager of Suria KLCC.
The fashion runway; walk walk fashion baby work it, move that bitch crazy.

Senri and I ( ´▽`)
Of course there were cocktails and finge food served before the fashion show started.

Since there was still time to spare before the fashion show starts, we girls did what we do best. Time for some group photos!
(From L-R) Carolyn, Li Chuen, Senri and I.

Another group shot with Shannon and Evelyn.

Since Gwiyomi is trending now, so why not a Gwiyoimi shot since there's six of us HEHEH

The fashion show kickstarted with Ida Mariana's powerful voice, covering Skyfall by Adele.

After the opening perfomance, Suria KLCC debuted its 2013 Fashion Week in style! Besides enjoying the show, of course I was swooned by the male models, such eye candies :3

The final walk.

This is actually my first time attending a fashion show, so initially I didn't know what to expect. It's definitely different from the kind of fashion shows that I get to see in TV. Overall, the sneak preview was great albeit brief. I think it would be better if they have more collection of affordable brands like TopShop and Uniqlo for the young shoppers. With this showcase, I was able to get a few insights on how this spring and summer trend would be like.

Starting from today, Suria KLCC shoppers will be able to watch models strutting down the runway showcasing the respective 17 brands at selected times at the Centre Court until 21st April.
