Since our previous trip to Penang, we would always pass by this particular restaurant but we never get to try it out. What makes us notice this restaurant was the constant crowd that swarms the restaurant every single time we drove past. Known as one of the most renowned "Chu Char" (a restuarant specializing in wok-fried dishes) restaurants in Penang, we figured that we should really check it out this time. As usual, Sie Yii does some research on the operating hours and signature dishes beforehand. The kiasu us went there around 6 since it's opened at 6 cause we don't wanna end up queuing for empty seats.
Vintage iron table and stools. |
Magazine articles and newspaper cuttings that features Tek Sen restaurants and a few drawings grace a corner of the shop's wall. |
By 6.30pm, the place is already filled to the brim. |
Curry Sting Ray @ RM30.00 [Recommended]
The curry tasted just nice and not too spicy. The gravy isn't too thick as well, and it makes you wanna add more rice to eat with it.

Scallop Tofu @ RM16.00
Served with minced pork, mushrooms, prawns, carrot and finely chopped spring onions. I'm not sure where the scallop is, probably in the tofu. The tofu is really soft and tender, goes well with the gravy too.

Since we usually go to hawker stalls and cafe for dinner, it is indeed good to have such a satisfying home-coooked dinner *rubs tummy |
The total bill came up was RM94.10 for 5 pax, which was a tad pricey for a simple meal like this. Overall the food is pretty good so that's pretty much why people still come back after all these years. Don't forget to order their famous Ribena Lychee too!
