Perfect for the Selfie-Obsessed

The Samsung Nx Mini that has been nothing but a good companion for the past few months. It is a compact interchangeable camera that focuses on good looks, pocket-friendly size, connectivity and oh, of course selfies. I guess the term selfie needs no further introduction. It is out to capture the hearts and minds of the fashionable and  the selfie obsessed folks. No doubt, there are tons of digital cameras in the market nowadays including the micro four thirds and what not, the small compact lenses that comes with the Samsung NX Mini and the flippable screen that turns 180 degree is what makes it unique from the rest.  Let's see if it really lives up to its title as the ultimate selfie camera, shall we?

Minus the flip-up display screen and the fact that the camera is lightweight, what makes it the ideal selfie camera is the ultra-slim pancake lens. The 9mm prime lens provides a wide-angled field of view, which make it an excellent selfie lens; wide enough to fit your whole bunch of friends in the frame. Besides, the 20-megapixel sensor that comes in this tiny camera is pretty impressive on its own already. Daylight photos taken with the NX mini always turn out stunning and vibrant, depicting either foliage or portraits. The variation of features available in Self Shot mode which I've blogged HERE few months ago also contribute to make the selfie-taking more fun and entertaining. Don't forget the beauty mode for prettier selfies as well :P And did I mention that the battery life is excellent? It could last me up to at least 2 days of heavy usage; definitely a plus point for extended outings and long trips. It's pretty amazing how these numbers of awesome features are being crammed in this camera. Now you know why am I so obsessed with it (:

Everything about this camera screams simplicity and sleekness; exquisitely modern with just the perfect touch of analogue. It comes with five different shades as well and my favourite has got to be the pink one!

The adorable 9mm prime lens which is specially made for more portability and selfie action.

The Samsung NX Mini is also equipped for immediate social sharing with NFC and built in WiFi; perfect for the social media addicts.

My travel essentials these days.
It has been my all-time favourite camera since I had it cause it's so easy to bring it around and saving so much space in my bag for more stuff :P I feel bad for ditching my former camera, looks like I'm the one who is being unfaithful here.

Alright, so here is a itty bitty fraction of my whole selfie album taken with Samsung Nx Mini;

I guess I nailed the Oscar's selfie, but better? There are 17 of us in this frame HAHAHA win liao lor.
This was back in May, at our so-called graduation dinner. Forgive me for the fugly eye makeup.

Our after-party which was at GSC Paradigm, watching X-Men: Days of Future Past.

One of those Zouk nights with the lovelies (;
Family group selfie during the World Cup season; clad in our respective team's jersey.

Selfie with the birthday girl who just turned 11 last week!

Shameless Selfie #1 | Ssssssup?
Shameless Selfie #2 | One of my fave shots taken with Samsung NX Mini.
Shameless Selfie #3 | Cause red is rad.
Shameless Selfie #4 | Trying out the Bidayuh traditional costume in Annah Rais.
I guess that's sufficient for now, I wouldn't want to freak you out with more of my shameless selfies. My friends called me the Queen of Selfie for a reason HEH but of course I don't take them or spam them on your timeline on a daily basis, that is just insane. For all you vainpot(s) out there who are like me who want to step up from a smartphone front camera yet not wanting to lug a bulky and large camera with you, the Samsung NX Mini might just be the camera you’ll ever need! All in all, I personally feel that it's a great camera not only for selfies (even most of my friends agree), but it's a fashion accessory by itself. Trust me, you'll love it!

Till then, have a great weekend ahead, guys!

Wink and Shoot!

I'm pretty sure everyone must have jump on the selfie bandwagon (at least once, don't you dare to lie) before or some might be still under the selfie fever ever since it existed. It's a word we hear so often these days that it was announced being the word of the year and made into the online version of the Oxford English Dictionary last year. No, I'm not gonna talk about the history of selfie and its evolution but I'm gonna talk about the ultimate selfie machine. Yes, it's the Samsung NX Mini that brings selfie to a whole new level! Like I mentioned before in my previous post, The NX Mini has three ways to activate a selfie: normal mode, smile shot and the wink shot.

On normal mode, you will need to press the shutter to capture a selfie or you can have a 3 seconds countdown timer set, so you can quickly prime yourself for a selfie shot. The smile shot captures instantly when it detects a big, cheesy smile! Even if there's only one person smiling among a bunch of people frowning in the background. That is definitely my friends' favourite mode but it can be tricky sometimes cause everyone have to smile at the same time or else it could have fire off early when it detects one of them smiling while others are still preparing themselves. You have no idea how many funny photos I get from this shot.

Last but not least, the wink mode that I love the most! Once it detects a wink, it will start on a 3 seconds countdown timer as well and capture your wink shot. It's not as sensitive as the smile shot, but it still work most of the time for me. The downside is that it wouldn't detect your wink if you're wearing glasses.

Alright, time to put the wink shot into test!

Flip over the screen and it will automatically be on the self mode.
Click on the face detection and choose the wink mode.
Give in your cutest wink pose and wait for it to capture automatically after two seconds.
No button required, just a wink will do (;
Smile is optional but I'm sure you don't wanna look like you had a face paralysis HEH

Maintaining a flattering pose while attempting to press the shutter button when one is selfie-ing can be challenging unless you're the selfie queen, but the NX mini's wink mode sure makes it easy peasy! Who knows they may come out with more interesting modes in the future, like a duck face mode HAHAHA

Before I head back to studying and preparing for finals, let me take a selfie ƪ(˘⌣˘)ʃ
Now this is the toothache pose -- it makes your face looks slimmer without the use of photoshop and yes, I was trying to act cute :P

Till then, have an awesome weekend ahead!

The New Samsung NX Mini SMART Camera

Hey guys!

If you followed me on Instagram and Facebook, you should have a rough idea what was I up to last Saturday (: Samsung Malaysia Electronics has recently launched a new addition to their SMART camera family with the world's slimmest and lightest interchangeable-lens camera to date, Samsung NX Mini! And I was one of the lucky few bloggers who had the chance to have a hands-on experience with the new camera during the launch.

We gathered at NU Sentral earlier that morning for a short briefing before being divided into groups for a mission later that day. What mission, you ask? Well, you got to continue reading to find out :D Every blogger was given a camera and t-shirt each and off we go to Central market by LRT for a photo marathon. The theme of  the day was Colours of Malaysia and we were grouped according to the three sub-themes which was Historical Buildings, Sight and Sound and Gastronomical Delights of Malaysia respectively.

The moment everyone had their hands on their cameras, you could practically see everyone flipping over the screen and selfie-ing with one another. Yet of course, we will defeating its purpose if we didn't use it for selfie cause the 3” Flip Up and Touch Display screen is specially designed for you to take the perfect selfie or welfie! Did I mention that it can rotate 180 degrees too? Now everyone can master the art of selfie anywhere anytime (; It even comes with a Wink shot and Smile shot that doesn't require you to press the shutter release button to capture an image. How cool is that? All you have to do is either to wink or smile at the camera, according to the feature that you've chosen (no, it can be two simultaneously HAHA) and once your wink or smile is detected, voila, a shot is taken right away!

That's Yuhjiun beside me, of course we didn't miss a chance to selfie too :3
Don't let the mini size deceive you, I can assure that you'll be amazed by what it has to offer! The body itself weighs in at a featherweight of 158g and is only 22.5mm thin, making it super convenient to bring around or even to slip into your pocket. Alright, I think I shall not further bore you with all the specifications in detail yadah yadah yadah, I'll just let you be the judge and see the photos for yourselves (:

Remember the mission that I mentioned earlier? Yes, so we were assigned to go for a photo marathon where we need to take photos according to our sub-themes and at the end of the day, there will be one camera to be given away for the BEST #myNXminimarathon photo of the day on Instagram.

But first, let us take a selfie B) with Beauty Face mode on.
You can choose to shoot in either Auto or Manual mode but for those who are less adventurous you can always choose from the SMART mode collection that features Landscape, Macro, Rich Tone, Panorama Food and many more. It even has Light Trace mode, one of the modes that I can't wait to try out at night.
Flowers, can't get enough of them!

You can pretty much guess which sub-theme I was in based of the photos I took, Gastronomical Delights of Malaysia it is. How do you like my photos? I love how vibrant the colours turn out and the crisp clear images. Equipped with large 1-inch type 20.5MP BSI CMOS Sensor, NX Mini camera does capture high quality photos. Pretty impressive, I must say! FYI, I didn't edit or filter any of the photos I've taken besides resizing them.

Due to time constraint, I didn't get to explore much and take more shots cause then it was time to head to KLCC for lunch.
It's Yuhjiun again, my group partner of the day HEH
We had Johnny Rockets at Avenue K for lunch, it's actually my first time in Avenue K.

One of the reasons why I love dining in JR, cause of the bubbly staff and you get entertained with their dance while you're having your meal. My face totally showed how ecstatic I got HAHA

My scrumptious lunch; Bacon and Cheddar Single. Cheese and Bacon mmmhmm, my fave combo!
It was delectable though the portion was a tad too big for me.

Their signature smiley ketchup, so adorable! :DDD

And the best photo goes to Kifli, who won himself a new Samsung NX Mini in mint colour! Congrats :D
How did we get to upload our photos via Instagram? Of course, like the rest of Samsung's 2014 camera models, the NX Mini features both Wi-Fi and NFC technology that allows us easy pairing with our smartphones (even those running on IOS) so that we can share photos on our Twitter, Facebook or Instagram almost instantly. This is definitely the one feature that all social media addicts will love! We were also introduced to this super cool "Tag & Go" NFC system, where we can simply tap our device to the camera to pair them. Once paired, you can shoot and share photos to a variety of social networks and or even use Samsung's Remote View Finder Pro app to remotely control your camera via your smartphone. Now you don't even need to purchase an external remote for your camera. Who says good things doesn't come in small package?

I promise this will be the last selfie, with Koey and Yuhjiun HEHE

Samsung NX Mini comes in five colors including white, black, classic brown, mint green and pink.
It retails at RM1399 with 9mm f3.5 lens and RM1699 with kit lens.

Last but not least, gonna end this post with a panorama shot I took of the city.

Thanks again to Samsung Malaysia Electronics and Manoah for a fun-filled day in KL! Couldn't be more happier to be a part of this exciting event ♥

Remember to follow me closely on my Facebook and Instagram to join me on my journey in exploring more of this awesome Samsung NX Mini! Feel free to check out more photos posted by other bloggers on FB and Instagram too, just type in #myNXmini :DDD

P/S: I will probably review this camera more on a separate post if I have the time too, finals is just around the corner, so bear with me (:
